Make amazing, crispy Buffalo Wings using your air fryer. This recipe brings game day flavor right to your kitchen with minimal mess. Anya shares her favorite way to get that perfect crunch without deep frying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup Buffalo wing sauce (your favorite brand)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings very dry with paper towels. This step is key for crispiness.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Toss the dried wings in the flour mixture until they are lightly and evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
  5. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 18 minutes.
  7. Flip the wings over. Increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C).
  8. Air fry for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C).
  9. While the wings finish cooking, whisk together the melted butter and Buffalo sauce in a large bowl.
  10. Transfer the hot, crispy wings to the bowl. Toss gently until every wing is coated in the sauce.
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy your game day snack!

Notes

  • Drying the chicken thoroughly helps the coating stick and promotes a crispier skin.
  • For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to your flour mixture.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce coating, you can brush the sauce on during the last 3 minutes of cooking instead of tossing after.
