Make crispy, sweet banana chips in your air fryer using a simple cinnamon sugar coating. This recipe yields a satisfying, non-fried snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 firm, slightly under-ripe bananas
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil, melted

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and slice them thinly, about 1/8 inch thick. Uniform thickness helps them crisp evenly.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon together.
  3. In a separate bowl, toss the banana slices with the melted coconut oil until lightly coated.
  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the oiled banana slices and toss gently to coat all sides.
  5. Arrange the coated banana slices in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Do not overlap them. Work in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time.
  7. Check the chips after 10 minutes; they are done when they look dry and feel firm. If they are not crisp, continue cooking in 2-minute intervals.
  8. Remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They will crisp up more as they cool.

Notes

  • Use firm, slightly green bananas; very ripe bananas will become soft or burn easily.
  • For the crispiest results, ensure the banana slices are in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Store cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
