Make soft pretzel bites crispy on the outside and tender inside using your air fryer, finished with a sweet cinnamon sugar coating.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (13.8 ounces) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Cut the pizza dough into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Prepare the boiling solution: In a medium pot, bring 4 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda to a boil.
  3. Blanch the dough: Carefully drop the dough pieces into the boiling water, about 6 at a time, for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with parchment paper.
  4. Prepare the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  5. Air fry the bites: Place the blanched dough pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket, working in batches. Air fry for 5 to 7 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Prepare the topping: While the bites cook, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  7. Coat the bites: Immediately after removing a batch from the air fryer, brush the warm bites lightly with melted butter. Toss them gently in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for best crisping results.
  • For extra crispiness, you can spray the bites lightly with cooking spray before tossing them in the sugar mixture.
  • If you prefer a softer texture, reduce the air frying time by 1 minute.
