Ingredients
Scale
1 (8 ounce) wheel of brie cheese
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Optional toppings (e.g., jam, nuts, honey)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Remove the rind from the brie if you prefer, though it is optional.
Lightly flour your work surface. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet.
Place the wheel of brie in the center of the pastry.
Bring the edges of the pastry up and over the brie, sealing them together at the top. Trim any excess pastry. You want the cheese fully encased.
Place the wrapped brie, seam-side down, onto the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the entire surface of the pastry with the beaten egg wash for a golden color.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
Let the baked brie rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Top with your desired toppings just before serving.
Notes
Anya suggests a tart raspberry jam to balance the richness of the cheese.
You can use a fork to gently score the top pastry before baking for decoration.
Serve immediately while the cheese is perfectly melted and flowing.
