Bake these simple cinnamon-spiced apples for a warm, comforting dessert. This recipe, brought to you by Sasha, is easy to follow and delivers sweet, tender apples perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash the apples well. Core each apple, leaving the bottom intact so it forms a cup.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Spoon the butter-sugar mixture evenly into the center cavity of each apple.
  5. Place the filled apples in a small baking dish. Pour the water into the bottom of the dish.
  6. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
  7. Carefully remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can use any firm apple variety you enjoy.
  • Sasha suggests adding a splash of vanilla extract to the butter mixture for extra flavor.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce if you like.
