Make these simple Chili Chocolate Nut Clusters. They offer a warm, spicy kick combined with crunchy mixed nuts coated in rich chocolate. Anya created this recipe, blending delicate baking with fiery spice.

Ingredients

  • Mixed Nuts (e.g., almonds, pecans, walnuts) – 2 cups
  • High-quality Dark Chocolate – 10 ounces
  • Chili Powder (Ancho or similar) – 1 to 2 teaspoons (adjust to your heat preference)
  • Pinch of Sea Salt
  • Optional: A dash of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Roughly chop your mixed nuts. You want texture, not dust.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate gently using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts. Stir until smooth.
  3. Once the chocolate is fully melted, remove it from the heat.
  4. Stir the chili powder and sea salt (and cinnamon, if using) into the melted chocolate. Mix well to distribute the spice evenly.
  5. Fold the chopped nuts into the chocolate mixture. Make sure all the nuts get coated.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Create small clusters.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, until the chocolate is completely firm.
  8. Serve and enjoy the sensation!

Notes

  • Use a chocolate with at least 60% cacao for the best flavor contrast with the chili.
  • If you like extra heat, add a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper along with the chili powder.
  • Sasha suggests tasting the chocolate mixture before adding the nuts to check your spice level.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in a cool place or the refrigerator.
