Ingredients
Scale
1 cup brewed strong Rooibos tea (about 2 tea bags steeped for 5-7 minutes)
1/2 cup milk of your choice (dairy, almond, or oat work well)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1-2 teaspoons sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or sugar), adjust to taste
Instructions
Brew your rooibos tea extra strong. Steep your tea bags in 1 cup of hot water for at least 5 minutes. Remove the bags.
In a small saucepan, combine the brewed rooibos tea, milk, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract if you are using it.
Heat the mixture over medium heat until it is hot but not boiling. Stir constantly.
If you want a frothy top, use a whisk or a handheld frother to create foam while heating.
Remove from heat. Stir in your chosen sweetener until it dissolves completely.
Pour the mixture into your favorite mug.
Garnish the top with a light dusting of extra ground cinnamon. Enjoy this warm treat!
Notes
Anya suggests using oat milk for the creamiest texture.
If you have whole cinnamon sticks, heat one in the milk mixture instead of ground cinnamon for a more subtle flavor, then remove before serving.
For an iced version, skip heating and blend all ingredients with ice.
