Make amazing Crispy Air Fryer Fish & Chips for a healthy weeknight dinner. This recipe brings the crunch without the deep-fry mess, perfect for a quick, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound white fish fillets (cod, haddock, or tilapia), about 1 inch thick
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup cold club soda or sparkling water
  • 1 pound Russet potatoes, cut into chip shapes
  • Cooking spray (oil-based)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  2. Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water for 15 minutes. Drain well and pat them completely dry with paper towels.
  3. Toss the dried potatoes with a light coating of cooking spray. Place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if needed).
  4. Air fry the potatoes for 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Reduce the temperature to 380°F (195°C) and cook for another 5-10 minutes until they start to crisp. Set aside and keep warm.
  5. While the potatoes finish, prepare the fish coating. In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  6. Slowly pour in the cold club soda, whisking just until combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy. Do not overmix.
  7. Dip each fish fillet into the batter, letting any excess drip off.
  8. Lightly spray the air fryer basket again. Place the battered fish in the basket without overlapping. Spray the tops of the fish fillets lightly with cooking spray.
  9. Air fry the fish at 390°F (200°C) for 10-14 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the coating is golden brown and the fish is cooked through.
  10. Serve the crispy fish immediately with your freshly made chips. Enjoy your great dinner!

Notes

  • Patting the potatoes very dry is key to getting them crispy.
  • Using very cold club soda helps create a lighter batter.
  • Sasha suggests adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mix for a little heat.
