Make incredibly crunchy and flavorful kale chips with this simple recipe from Anya. These Crispy Parmesan Kale Chips are a fantastic, satisfying snack you will love making.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large bunch kale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and thoroughly dry the kale. Tear the leaves from the tough stems into bite-sized pieces. You must remove all water for crispiness.
  3. Place the kale in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and massage the oil into the leaves with your hands until lightly coated.
  4. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper over the oiled kale. Toss gently to distribute the cheese evenly.
  5. Spread the kale in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan; use two sheets if necessary.
  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Watch them closely after 12 minutes. The chips are done when the edges are lightly browned and they feel dry and crisp.
  7. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up more as they cool. Serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes

  • The secret to truly crispy kale chips is removing all moisture before baking. Pat the leaves very dry after washing.
  • If you prefer a different flavor, skip the Parmesan and add garlic powder or onion powder instead.
  • Keep an eye on the oven; kale burns quickly once it starts crisping.
