1 large onion, chopped
2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes, undrained
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (4 ounce) can diced green chilies, undrained

1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
Instructions

Transfer the browned meat to your slow cooker.
Add the chopped onion, kidney beans, black beans, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, green chilies, and beef broth to the slow cooker.
Stir in the chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper, if using. Mix everything well.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
Stir the chili before serving. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.
Notes
This recipe freezes well; portion it into freezer-safe containers for quick future meals.
For a thicker chili, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking time on the high setting.
If you prefer a pure beef crockpot chili, substitute the ground turkey with another pound of ground beef.
