Make quick, crispy, and cheesy egg toast using your air fryer for an easy breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices bread (sourdough or thick cut recommended)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon butter or cooking spray
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk the egg and milk together until combined. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Place the two slices of bread on a plate. Pour the egg mixture evenly over both slices, letting the bread soak for about 30 seconds per side. Do not over-soak.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of both egg-soaked bread slices.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) for 3 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with butter or cooking spray. Place the cheesy toast slices in the basket in a single layer.
  6. Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Cooking time depends on your air fryer model.
  7. Carefully remove the toast and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a creamy variation, replace half the cheddar cheese with ricotta cheese.
  • Use thick-cut bread to prevent the egg mixture from soaking through completely.
  • If you do not have an air fryer, you can pan-fry this recipe in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
