Ingredients
Scale
1 loaf Italian or French bread (about 12 inches long)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup cooked, crumbled bacon
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup pepperoni slices (optional)
1/4 cup ranch dressing or cream cheese (softened)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir the garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the beef mixture. Remove from heat.
Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise, keeping the two halves intact. Do not cut all the way through the bottom crust.
Spread the ranch dressing or softened cream cheese evenly over the cut surfaces of both bread halves.
Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and half of the cheddar cheese over the bottom half of the bread.
Spoon the cooked beef mixture evenly over the cheese layer. If using, layer the pepperoni slices over the meat.
Sprinkle the crumbled bacon and the remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the filling.
Place the top half of the bread over the filling. Gently press down.
Wrap the entire loaf tightly in aluminum foil.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Carefully unwrap the foil, leaving the loaf open. Return the bread to the oven and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
Slice into thick pieces and serve hot.
Notes
You can substitute the ground beef with cooked sausage or shredded cooked chicken for variety.
For extra flavor, mix 2 tablespoons of your favorite pizza sauce into the meat mixture before assembling.
If you prefer a crispier top, bake the final 5-10 minutes without foil, watching closely to prevent burning.
