Ingredients
Scale
4 cups water
1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 lemon, thinly sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, sliced
2 tablespoons honey or sweetener (optional)
Instructions
Bring the water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
Remove the water from the heat.
Add the dried hibiscus flowers, orange slices, lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, and sliced ginger to the hot water.
Cover the saucepan and let the tea steep for 10 to 15 minutes. Steeping longer results in a tarter flavor.
Strain the tea through a fine-mesh sieve into a heat-safe pitcher, discarding the solids.
Stir in honey or your preferred sweetener, if using.
Serve hot immediately, or chill for iced tea.
Notes
Anya suggests using blood oranges for a deeper color and flavor.
Taste the tea before sweetening; the citrus adds natural tartness.
If you prefer a stronger ginger kick, lightly crush the ginger slices before adding them.
