Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8-10 pound) bone-in ham
  • 1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Whole cloves for studding (optional)
  • Maraschino cherries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. If your ham has a thick rind, score it in a diamond pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat.
  3. If using, stud the ham with whole cloves at the intersections of the scored lines.
  4. Place the ham, cut-side down, in a roasting pan.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine the crushed pineapple, brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, and ground cloves. Stir until well combined.
  6. Pour about half of the pineapple glaze over the ham.
  7. Cover the ham loosely with foil.
  8. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C).
  9. Remove the foil. Brush the remaining glaze over the ham.
  10. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).
  11. Bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the glaze is bubbly and caramelized.
  12. If desired, garnish with maraschino cherries before serving.
  13. Let the ham rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.

Notes

  • For a moister ham, you can add about 1/2 cup of water or pineapple juice to the bottom of the roasting pan.
  • Adjust the amount of brown sugar and honey to your preference for sweetness.
  • If you don’t have Dijon mustard, yellow mustard can be used, but the flavor will be slightly different.
