Ingredients
Scale
2 cups Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 inch fresh Ginger, thinly sliced or grated
1 tablespoon Maple Syrup (adjust to taste)
1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
Pinch of Nutmeg
Optional: 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Instructions
Pour the almond milk into a small saucepan.
Add the sliced or grated fresh ginger to the milk.
Heat the mixture over medium heat until it just begins to simmer around the edges. Do not let it boil vigorously.
Reduce the heat to low and let it gently infuse for 5 to 7 minutes, allowing the ginger flavor to deepen.
Remove the saucepan from the heat.
Stir in the maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract if you are using it.
Carefully strain the milk through a fine-mesh sieve into your mug to remove the ginger pieces.
Enjoy this warm, spicy treat immediately.
Notes
For a stronger ginger kick, grate the ginger instead of slicing it.
You can sweeten this beverage with honey if you are not avoiding all animal products.
If you prefer a frothy top, use an immersion blender briefly after straining.
Taste the milk before adding sweetener; some almond milks are pre-sweetened.
