Make a refreshing, tart, and sweet frozen slush using fresh blueberries and lemon juice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-5 lemons)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 4 cups ice cubes
  • Lemon slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the frozen blueberries, lemon juice, water, and sugar in a high-powered blender.
  2. Blend on low speed initially, scraping down the sides as needed.
  3. Add the 4 cups of ice cubes to the blender mixture.
  4. Increase the blender speed and process until the mixture is smooth and has a thick, slushy consistency. Stop blending just before it becomes completely liquid.
  5. Taste the slush and add more sugar if you prefer it sweeter, or a splash more lemon juice if you want more tartness. Blend briefly to incorporate.
  6. Pour the Iced Blueberry Lemonade Slush immediately into chilled glasses.
  7. Garnish each glass with a fresh lemon slice or a few fresh blueberries.

Notes

  • For a deeper blueberry color, let the frozen blueberries sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before blending.
  • If you do not have a high-powered blender, blend the liquid ingredients and sugar first, then gradually add the ice to prevent straining the motor.
  • You can substitute the granulated sugar with simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, heated until dissolved and cooled) for easier blending.
