A refreshing, layered iced beverage combining sweet mango, creamy coconut milk, and earthy matcha green tea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon ceremonial grade matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (175°F/80°C)
  • 1/2 cup mango puree or thick mango nectar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk (full fat recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon sweetener (maple syrup or agave, adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the matcha: Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl. Add the hot water and whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk or small electric frother until smooth and frothy, with no clumps. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the mango base: In a separate glass, combine the mango puree and sweetener. Stir until the sweetener dissolves.
  3. Assemble the layers: Fill a tall glass completely with ice cubes.
  4. Pour the mango base over the ice.
  5. Gently pour the coconut milk over the mango layer. Try to pour slowly over the back of a spoon to maintain separation if desired.
  6. Slowly pour the prepared matcha mixture over the coconut milk layer.
  7. Serve immediately with a straw. Stir before drinking to combine flavors.

Notes

  • For a thicker coconut layer, use chilled canned coconut cream instead of liquid coconut milk.
  • If you prefer a sweeter drink, add sweetener directly to the matcha or coconut milk instead of the mango puree.
  • Use filtered water for the best matcha flavor.
