Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce (adjust to your preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 head butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated and washed

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the ground beef, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, chili garlic sauce, and black pepper.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef mixture to the skillet.
  3. Cook the beef, breaking it up with a spoon, until it is browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Pour in the 1/4 cup of water. Stir well and let the mixture simmer until the liquid has mostly evaporated, about 2 minutes.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat.
  6. Spoon the cooked beef mixture into the center of each lettuce cup.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your warm, flavorful dinner!

Notes

  • For an extra kick, Sasha suggests adding a dash more chili garlic sauce during cooking.
  • You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for the beef if you prefer.
  • Make sure your lettuce leaves are dry before filling for the best texture.
