Ingredients
Scale
4 Salmon Fillets (about 6 oz each)
1/4 cup Maple Syrup
1/4 cup Soy Sauce (or Tamari for gluten-free)
2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar
1 tablespoon fresh Ginger, grated
2 cloves Garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
1/2 teaspoon Sriracha (optional, for a little heat)
1 tablespoon Cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold Water (slurry)
Sesame Seeds, for garnish
Green Onions, sliced, for garnish
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, and Sriracha, if using. This is your glaze base.
Pour half of the glaze mixture over the salmon fillets, ensuring they are evenly coated. Reserve the other half of the glaze.
Bake the salmon for 10-12 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets.
While the salmon bakes, take the reserved glaze and pour it into a small saucepan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat.
Whisk the cornstarch slurry one more time and slowly pour it into the simmering glaze. Stir constantly until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute. Remove from heat.
Once the salmon is cooked, brush the thickened glaze generously over the tops of the fillets.
Return the salmon to the oven and broil for 1-2 minutes until the glaze is bubbly and slightly caramelized. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
Remove from the oven. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving immediately.
Notes
If you prefer pan-searing, cook the salmon skin-side down first for crispy skin before flipping and glazing.
For an extra layer of flavor, marinate the salmon in half the reserved glaze for 15 minutes before baking.
Serve this salmon with steamed rice or roasted broccoli.
