Ingredients
Espresso or strong brewed coffee: 2 shots (about 2 oz)
Milk (dairy or non-dairy): 8 oz
Peppermint syrup: 1 to 2 tablespoons (adjust to your taste)
Chocolate syrup or melted dark chocolate: 1 tablespoon
Whipped cream: For topping
Crushed peppermint candies or a drizzle of chocolate syrup: For garnish
Instructions
Brew your espresso or strong coffee and set it aside.
In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk over medium heat until it is steaming but not boiling.
Remove the milk from the heat. Add the peppermint syrup and chocolate syrup to the warm milk.
Whisk the milk mixture vigorously until it is slightly frothy. You can also use a milk frother if you have one.
Pour the hot chocolate-peppermint milk mixture into your favorite mug.
Carefully pour the brewed espresso or coffee over the milk mixture.
Top generously with whipped cream.
Garnish with crushed peppermint candies or an extra drizzle of chocolate syrup. Enjoy your homemade festive latte!
Notes
Anya suggests using good quality dark chocolate for a richer flavor.
If you do not have peppermint syrup, you can use a few drops of food-grade peppermint extract, but start small as it is strong.
For a vegan version, use non-dairy milk and ensure your chocolate syrup is dairy-free.
