Enjoy these Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers for a satisfying, low-carb dinner. We take the classic flavors of a Philly Cheesesteak and stuff them perfectly into sweet bell peppers. It is a warm and welcoming meal, just like our friendship.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 slices provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Place the peppers cut-side up in a baking dish.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  4. Add the chopped onion and mushrooms to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the vegetables soften.
  5. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for one minute more.
  6. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in half of the shredded provolone cheese.
  7. Spoon the meat mixture evenly into the hollowed-out bell peppers.
  8. Top each stuffed pepper with the remaining provolone cheese.
  9. Add about a half-inch of water to the bottom of the baking dish.
  10. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • You can substitute steak slices for ground beef if you prefer a more authentic cheesesteak texture.
  • Feel free to add a dash of garlic powder or onion powder for extra flavor in the filling.
  • If you want a little heat, toss in a pinch of red pepper flakes with the meat.
