Enjoy a comforting cup of coffee infused with the rich, nutty essence of perfectly roasted hazelnuts. This recipe brings warmth and a delightful flavor to your morning routine.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whole coffee beans (medium roast recommended)
  • 1/4 cup raw hazelnuts
  • 2 tablespoons hazelnut syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • Water (for brewing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread the raw hazelnuts on a small baking sheet.
  3. Roast the hazelnuts for 8-10 minutes, watching closely until fragrant and lightly browned.
  4. Let the hazelnuts cool completely.
  5. Place the roasted hazelnuts and the coffee beans together in a sturdy spice grinder or coffee grinder.
  6. Grind the mixture until you achieve your preferred coffee grind consistency. Work in short pulses to avoid overheating the beans.
  7. Brew the ground coffee using your preferred method (drip, pour-over, French press).
  8. If using hazelnut syrup, stir it into your brewed coffee to taste.
  9. Pour your warm, roasted hazelnut coffee and enjoy the flavor you created.

Notes

  • Anya suggests using a medium roast coffee bean to let the hazelnut flavor shine through.
  • If you don’t want to grind the nuts with the beans, you can finely chop the roasted hazelnuts and add them directly to your coffee filter basket before brewing.
  • Store unused ground coffee mixture in an airtight container away from light and heat.
