Make this Sparkling Pomegranate Punch for a festive gathering. It’s a bright, bubbly drink perfect for celebrations, combining the tartness of pomegranate with sparkling wine.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup sparkling white wine (chilled)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda (chilled)
  • Pomegranate arils, for garnish
  • Lime slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the pomegranate juice, orange juice, lime juice, and simple syrup in a large pitcher. Stir well to mix.
  2. Chill the juice mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This keeps the punch cold without diluting the sparkle.
  3. Just before serving, gently pour in the chilled sparkling wine.
  4. Top with the cold sparkling water or club soda. Stir very gently once or twice to combine the layers. Do not over-stir, or you will lose the bubbles.
  5. Pour the punch into glasses filled with ice.
  6. Garnish each glass with a sprinkle of pomegranate arils and a lime slice.

Notes

  • Anya suggests making the simple syrup ahead of time by heating equal parts sugar and water until the sugar dissolves, then cooling.
  • If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, substitute the sparkling wine with white grape juice or more sparkling water.
  • Taste the base mixture before adding the sparkling wine; adjust the simple syrup if your pomegranate juice is very tart.
