This Spinach Artichoke Dip Bread Bowl is the ultimate crowd-pleaser appetizer. It is warm, cheesy, and baked right inside a hollowed-out loaf of bread. Anya brings her artistic touch to this classic dish, making it beautiful and delicious for your next gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 round loaf of crusty bread (sourdough or boule recommended)
  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed very dry
  • 1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Carefully slice the top off the loaf of bread, creating a lid. Set the lid aside.
  3. Hollow out the inside of the bread bowl, leaving about a 1-inch thick wall. Tear the removed bread into bite-sized pieces for dipping later.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Mix until smooth.
  5. Stir in the dried spinach, chopped artichoke hearts, 3/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, minced garlic, pepper, and salt (if using). Mix everything well until fully combined.
  6. Spoon the dip mixture into the hollowed-out bread bowl. Top with the remaining 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese.
  7. Place the bread bowl and the reserved bread lid (and torn pieces) on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot, bubbly, and slightly golden on top.
  9. Serve immediately with the baked bread pieces and the bread lid for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure your spinach is very dry; excess water will make the dip runny.
  • You can bake the reserved bread pieces separately for extra crispiness if you prefer.
  • For extra flavor, toast the inside of the bread bowl lightly before filling it with the dip.
