This is a wonderful, classic Strawberry Pretzel Salad recipe, perfect for bringing a cheerful, nostalgic dessert to your table. Anya shares this favorite, inspired by family tradition.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 container (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 package (6 ounces) strawberry flavored gelatin
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Mix the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 1/4 cup of sugar. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Bake the crust for 10 minutes. Let it cool completely.
  4. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and 1 cup of sugar until smooth.
  5. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until just combined.
  6. Spread this cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
  7. In a separate bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in 2 cups of boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved.
  8. Add 1 cup of cold water to the gelatin mixture.
  9. Chill the gelatin mixture until it is slightly thickened, about 30 to 45 minutes. It should be the consistency of egg whites.
  10. Gently fold the sliced fresh strawberries into the thickened gelatin.
  11. Spoon the strawberry gelatin mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  12. Refrigerate the salad for at least 4 hours, or until firm, before serving.

Notes

  • Anya recommends using good quality pretzels for the best crust flavor.
  • Make sure the cream cheese layer is completely cool before adding the gelatin layer so they do not mix.
  • This salad tastes best when served chilled.
