Ingredients
Scale
1 pound salmon fillet
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon mirin (sweet rice wine)
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon sesame oil
Cooked rice for serving
Optional toppings: sesame seeds, chopped green onions, steamed broccoli
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare a skillet for pan-searing.
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, mirin, grated ginger, and minced garlic to make the teriyaki glaze.
Place the salmon fillet on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in the prepared skillet.
Brush the salmon generously with the teriyaki glaze.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or pan-sear for 4-5 minutes per side, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Baste with more glaze during cooking if desired.
Serve the teriyaki salmon over cooked rice.
Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, and add steamed broccoli or other favorite toppings.
Notes
For extra flavor, let the salmon marinate in half of the teriyaki glaze for 15-30 minutes before cooking.
Adjust the sweetness of the glaze by adding more or less honey.
If you don’t have mirin, you can substitute with dry sherry or white wine with a pinch of sugar.
